毎年、多くの渡り鳥が日本とオーストラリアの間を往来しています。渡り鳥たちにとって、湿地等の自然環境は、えさの確保や繁殖、休息のための大切な場所となっています。
国際生物多様性の日である平成19年5月22日に、名古屋市とオーストラリア・ジロング市は、湿地提携に調印しました。両市は、湿地の保全と活用に向けて共に取り組んでいきます。
Every year, thousands of migratory birds fly back and forth between Japan and Australia. Wetlands and other natural habitats are essential feeding, breeding and resting grounds for these birds.
The City of Nagoya and the City of Greater Geelong signed an affiliation on May 22, 2007, the International Day for Biological Diversity, promising to work together to protect and to ensure the wise utilization of wetlands.
